The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) busted an illegal liquor and drugs racket in Bhati Mine area of Delhi.

Two people have been arrested and an FIR has been registered in Fatehpur Beri Police Station.

The Commission in its official statement stated that its Mahila Panchayat Program and NGO Shristi were able to bust an illegal liquor and drug racket that has been ongoing for several years.

The females in the area are said to be troubled by the situation and most males are allegedly addicted to drugs in the area.

A team constituted by DCW Chairperson Swati Maliwal along with NGOand volunteers of the Mahila Panchayat Program conducted a surprise inspection of houses in the area.

Illegal liquor and Ganja was found in the raid in one resident’s house.

Maliwal said, “It is shameful that Delhi is in the grip of drugs and our children are getting addicted. The law and order situation in Delhi is terrible. Delhi Police has failed to curb the illegal liquor and drugs trade.

I feel very sad that the Commission and women of Delhi have to take great risk and fight local dons themselves to curb the trade.”
