DCPCR releases primer on child abuse

The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) in its primer for prevention of child abuse has suggested no candidate with a criminal record of sexual and physical violence will be recruited for any position within an institution.

The guidelines suggested that all candidates, along with the appointment letter, will be presented with a copy of the institution’s child protection policy document and will be asked to authorise it. The guidelines were released by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday. These guidelines were formulated by DCPCR. The guidelines primarily deal with child sexual abuse.

According to guidelines for school transportation, at least one female ward/guard should be present on the bus until the last child is dropped home and all reports of bullying and physical dominance observed in the bus must be quelled and the victims separated immediately from the perpetrator.
