Delhi Police has apprehended three persons, including a 15-year-old juvenile, for the gang rape-cum-robbery of a 51-year-old Danish tourist in the Capital two days ago, taking the number of arrests in the case to six. Sources said that the accused tried to destroy their clothes but investigators have recovered their clothes from their hideouts and the clothes have been sent to the Central Forensic Sciences laboratory (CFSl) for further examination. In a related development, Delhi Police has found some crucial evidences, including some persons and they are planning to use them as their witnesses. Meanwhile, the victim’s medical examination was conducted at a Copenhagen hospital on Thursday evening and the report has been received by the Delhi Police on Friday evening.
Police said that the accused have been identified as Arjun (19), Raju alias Chhaka (24). “Accused Arjun was arrested from Jamuna Bazar and other accused Raju was arrested from Paharganj area. One 15-year-old juvenile has also been apprehended,” the officer added. Earlier, two men were arrested - Mohammed Raja (22), hailing from Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh and Mahender alias Ganja (25), belonging to Maharashtra. They have been sent to police custody till January 20. On Thursday, a third person, Raju (25), was arrested.
Sources said that the one of the arrested accused, Arjun is a notorious offender and involved in several theft cases. He has been involved in several cases of pickpocketing and thefts. Few months ago, he came in the contact of the main kingpin, Mahender alias Ganja, who was released from Tihar Jail and started running their pickpocket gang with other associates in the Central district area.
