Cutting to the chase

The admission process to Delhi University seems to be nearing the end with most colleges closing admissions in their fourth cut-off list. While top colleges closed their lists for most courses, Ramjas College and Kamla Nehru College had no scope for any course left except English and History Honours.

Despite several withdrawals in most colleges, the seats for popular courses filled up quickly. Though many expected the fourth list to open up for colleges like Miranda House and Ramjas, it turned out to be the other way round. Miranda House closed its cut-offs for most popular courses except English, which remained high even in the fourth list with 95.50 per cent.

lady Shri Ram College closed admissions for all popular courses and kept admissions open for BA Programme which also had a high cut-off of 95 per cent. However, students wanting to pursue Economics Honours at Hindu or Hansraj College have a golden opportunity with the fourth list. While all top colleges have closed the course for admission, these two colleges have the course still up for grabs but at high cut-offs. Hindu College has closed its cut-off for the course at 98.25 per cent while Hansraj College has closed it at 97.25 per cent.

Indraprastha College for Women has the maximum available options in popular courses. Admissions in the college are open for BA Programme, BCom Honours and History Honours. Thus, students who missed out on admission at Jesus & Mary College or Miranda House now have a chance to go there.

The admissions under this list will go on till July 12 which is only two days. While some students may want to go to colleges like Hindu, Hansraj and IP, there will be less time for them to cancel their admissions and take new one. The fifth list, if required, will be out on July 14.
