A 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by five people, including a CRPF constable, in West Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area at gunpoint. Four of the accused men lived in the neighbourhood of the victim. One of them lured her and then took her to a flat near Jharoda Kalan where they allegedly raped her. One of the accused is also a constable with the Central Reserve Paramilitary Force (CRPF) and showed his identity card and threatened her with a pistol. The accused men also videographed the incident and threatened to upload it on the internet.
The incident took place when the victim, a Class X student, was on her way to school. One of the accused, identified as Talib, offered to drop her to school. The victim, knowing the accused as he resided in her neighbourhood, rode pillion on his bike. The accused took the victim to his friend Surender’s house near Jharoda Kalan. Surender, a CRPF constable, showed his identity card and photographs in police uniform to the victim. Their other accomplice Pramod along with two other juveniles also reached the flat. They threatened the victim with a pistol and Surender and Talib took turns to rape her. Three others videographed the incident. Before dropping her back, the accused threatened to kill her and her family if she breathed a word.
The victim reached home and did not go to the school for a few days. She fell ill and complained of uneasiness after which she narrated her ordeal to her parents who in turn informed police. A medical examination of the girl confirmed rape. Three accused, including Pramod and the juvenile, were apprehended by police.
“A case under Sections 376D/363/506 and Sections of Prevention Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered at Uttam Nagar police station. Teams have been formed and efforts are being made to trace and Surender,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Ranvir Singh.
