Ghaziabad Police arrested a criminal in an encounter within half an hour of him and his accomplice snatching the gun of a security gaurd.
The incident occurred on Friday afternoon in Vasundhara residential locality under Indirapuram police station of this city.
The police said that, at about 1:00 pm on Friday, the two bike borne criminals looted the gun from a security guard, Nathu Ram, posted at Mukut Banquet hall in Vasundhara.
The criminals also fired two shots from the pistol . After the incident the security guard called the police and a wireless message was flashed in the district.
As soon as the police received wireless message, the picket of the police force which was patrolling the area chased them in Vasundhara area. During a fiery encounter the criminal sustained gunshot injury in his leg while a constable also sustained bullet injury in his arm. But the police overpowered the criminal. Taking advantage his accomplice fled the spot while one criminal was nabbed.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors told that he was out of danger. He told his identity as Kamaluddin a resident of Bamheta and his accomplice was Bhura. During screening of their crime record, Kamaluddin was found involved in over 15 criminal cases and Bhura in over a dozen criminal cases in different police stations of Ghaziabad.
"Raids are being conducted to nab the absconder while Kamluddin is being treated in hospital in police custody" said SP City Akash Tomar.
A pistol, a motorcycle and the gun was recovered from his possession added the officer.
