The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police on Monday said that they have arrested two criminals — Firoz and Kanhaiya from Jahangirpuri area. “Firoz is a criminal facing cases against him. He was involved in the murder of a Delhi Police Constable in Jyoti Nagar area in 2014 when the cop had tried to stop him and his associate,” said Joy Tirkey, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime)
Police said that a team under ACP Shweta Singh Chauhan received a tip-off about Firoz and Kanhaiya that the duo would come to Jahangirpuri.
On November 2, around 5 pm, Firoz and Kanhaiya were apprehended. Two pistols and ammunition have been recovered from their possession. On interrogation the duo revealed that they had been planning to commit robbery in the area of Jahangirpuri.
During the course of investigations, cops found that Firoz along with his associate Fauji (now dead) were involved in a murder case of Constable Shiv Raj when he tried to stop the duo for checking at the Jyoti Nagar Police picket. In 2008 too, Firoz was arrested for killing a man at the Old Delhi Railway station. apart from these cases, Firoz was involved in cases of robbery, theft, criminal assault and possession of illegal firearms in Delhi and Ghaziabad. Kanhaiya, a part time labourer joined Firoz to commit robbery, police said.
