Two criminals — involved in Dwarka house robbery — have been arrested by the Crime Branch on Sunday. They had robbed the house of a 52-year-old woman in Dwarka Sector 5 on August 3. The two arrested persons have been identified as lalit Kapoor, former driver of the woman’s family, and Sonu Ahlawat.
Police said the victim was alone in her flat when robbery had taken place on August 3. “The gang members hatched a plan to rob her and then sent lalit Kapoor who was known to the family with another accomplice. As he had worked with the family as a driver for two years she let her in,” senior officer said.
Another man then entered the house and overpowered her at gunpoint. The assailants ransacked her house and fled away taking four gold rings, gold bangles, two mobile phones and property documents. An FIR was registered at Dwarka South Police Station. Soon after the incident, the Crime Branch constituted a team to crack the case. On the tip-off, team conducted a raid and arrested the duo.
Original documents of property worth several crore and gold bangles weighing 78 gm have been recovered from their possession.
During interrogation, it was revealed that lalit was well aware about the property details and locations of plots owned by the family. He also used to help them in property deals and often used to visit their office at Ranaji Enclave and was very familiar with the family.
Police have identified other gang members as Asim Sehrawat and Rahul Ahlawat who are still at large. “We have got information about them and we are conducting raids to arrest them,” officer said.
