Investigations into the brutal murder of 52-year-old Tarun Bajaj, a resident of S-Block in New Rajinder Nagar, have revealed that the crime is possibly an outcome of a monetary dispute. Since Bajaj was involved in a betting racket, investigators are scanning call detail records to verify persons with whom he was in touch with constantly. A police officer involved in the investigation said the murder could be an outcome of some unpaid debts in the betting circle. Investigating officers revealed that the very fact that text messages of various bookies were found on his phone revealed he was constantly in touch with them and was involved in betting and that he was a bookie himself.
He further stated the killers had come with a plan to kill him. There were 30 deep stab injuries on his body and those behind the murder had attacked him viciously. It was premeditated crime and it appears to be the handiwork of professional killers. The fact that Bajaj was murdered when he was in a state of undress has raised suspicion that it could be a crime of passion too. The chance prints lifted from the spot are being matched by the forensic experts. The weapon of offence is yet to be recovered. A senior Delhi Police officer involved in the investigation said Bajaj lived with his wife and they were issueless. Recovery of glasses with juice indicated that those involved in the murder were known to the deceased. Bajaj was reportedly alone when the assailants entered the house as his wife, a legal advisor with Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation, had stepped out on work. Bajaj’s body was naked, which also indicates there might be a sexual angle or he could be lured by the accused men to engage in thus.
