The Delhi Police on Wednesday evening questioned Asia Pacific Head of Uber Eric Alexander at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North). He was questioned for over two hours during which he told the police about their organisational structure.
Alexander was also questioned on Tuesday night after he arrived in the Capital from Hong Kong. He was summoned by the police under Section 91 of the CrPc. Eric reached along with general manager (Marketing) Gagan Bhatia.
The police officials are yet to decide on who faces the liability for the negligence on part of Uber. The Delhi Police gave a 12-point questionnaire to them asking for replies on certain points. The Asia Pacific head was questioned about the security features, GPS system, route of the cab and of the accused on the day of the incident, previous complaints of the driver, number of drops Yadav did during his period and feedback on them and background of the organisation and functioning in India.
“They have sought more time from us to reply to our queries. We have asked them to submit the employee database, which they will provide soon as it will be retrieved from their office in San Francisco,” said DCP, North Madhur Verma. Police officials also suggested that an emergency button should be present in the car.
Uber has also provided the cops with the log of the activities carried out by the cab and the driver on the day of the incident. They also told the cops that they have shut down their application in Delhi.
“My deepest sympathies with the victim. We are cooperating with the police and I cannot divulge further details since investigations are underway,” said Eric Alexander.
