The Delhi Police is looking for a businessman and his wife on the charges of torturing and then killing their maid-servant. The 27-year-old maid had died under highly mysterious circumstances on April 27 last.
The couple misled the police earlier by cooking up stories, billing it as a natural death. However, the Investigating Officer (IO) smelt a rat and the maid’s body was sent for post-mortem. Forensic experts opined that the she had died of internal injuries. Accordingly a case of murder was registered at Model Town police station.A police official involved in the investigations said that the maid had sustained 13 injury marks on her body — including one on her head, chest and stomach.
The businessman identified as Sachin Jindal and his were booked on the charges of murdering their maid. The couple fled their home after the outcome of the post-mortem was known to them and they have managed to elude the police so far.According to the police, Radhika, employed with Sachin Jindal’s family found dead under mysterious circumstances inside the house on the evening on April 27. She was working with then since February last.
Even though the police carried out an initial enquiry into the matter and questioned the businessman and his family, it appeared that she died a natural death. The coupel said said that she even fell from the stairs two days before she died which is why some bruises on her legs were seen. This made us suspicious and we insisted for a post-mortem examination, the police added.
Meanwhile, in a similar case reported from Jindal’s house in 2013, a domestic servant was found hanging from the ceiling fan inside his house. The post-mortem examination in the case had revealed that the woman died of asphyxia. Police have now found that Jindal’s wife often loses her temper and hit her servants over trivial issues.
