Cop on duty crushed to death by truck

A Delhi Police Constable was crushed to death by a truck on Saturday, while he was trying to stop it during a routine check in Punjabi Bagh area. The deceased has been identified as Arya Bhushan (27).

A truck, loaded with cement, entered a ‘no entry’ zone at breakneck speed. As Bhushan signaled him to stop, the driver slowed down. But, when the constable came closer, the driver accelerated and crushed him to death.

The constable was rushed to Maharaja Agarsen Hospital where he was declared brought dead. “The driver of the truck was driving rashly and was coming from Rajouri Garden side. He ran the truck over the constable. The driver fled from the spot leaving the truck there. The vehicle has been seized,” said a police official.

Kanwarpal Singh (51), a traffic assistant sub-inspector — who was present at the time of the incident — told police that he, along with other three officers — including Bhushan, Constable Hansraj and Constable Satbir — were on duty on Rajouri Garden-Azadpur Ring Road. “The vehicle entered the ‘no entry’ zone and when Bhushan asked the truck to stop, it ran over him,” said Singh

A case of rash and negligent driving causing death and obstructing a public servant from discharging his duties was lodged at Punjabi Bagh Police station and the police are on the lookout for the accused.
