With many construction projects coming up on major arterial roads connecting Noida with Delhi, Ghaziabad and Greater Noida, the woes of commuters are expected to aggravate further. According to officials, commuters are not expected to get any relief form traffic snarls for the next two years as the constructions won’t be completed any time soon.
Even under current circumstances with many construction projects yet to start, traffic snarls are reported for at least six hours in a day during the peak hours.
The traffic congestion is worse at arteries of Sector-71, 60, Mamura Chowk and Model Town that connects NH-24-Ghaziabad and Delhi due to absence of traffic police officlas and malfunctioning traffic signals. Due to construction of two underpasses (at Sector-60 and Model town intersections) and Metro pillars between Mamura to Hi Rank School, traffic is diverted and officials claim that the situation would remain so for at least two years.
The office goers and other travelers face severe traffic snarls between 7 am to 10 am and from 6 pm to 11 pm.
Noida traffic police failed to ease traffic flow despite many attempts including its plan to deploy traffic constables to guide traffic. Officials have removed hundreds of autos from the congestion points, but drivers continue to park autos close to Model town and other points.
