Construction worker dies after fall from scaffold

In a freak incident reported from posh Chanakyapuri area of New Delhi district, a 35-year-old construction worker died on Sunday morning. New Delhi district police officials said that the labourer had head injuries, which might have been caused after he fell from the scaffold of an under-construction tower.

Police Control Room (PCR) of Delhi Police was informed about the incident around 6.30 am from building number D-68 in Chanakyapuri. A construction worker, identified as Vinod Paswan, was found lying in a pool of blood. It appears that injured Paswan himself had called the PCR after he fell to the ground. He was moved to a nearby hospital by police but he succumbed to his injuries, the police said. A senior police official of New Delhi district said that it appears to be a case of accidental death as no evidence was found to suggest that he could have been murdered. However, an investigation has been initiated at the Chanakyapuri police station and police are looking into all possible angles behind Paswan’s death.

Apparently Paswan fell down from the under-construction building during the night. The body has been sent for a post-mortem exam and the family of the deceased has been informed as well, police said.

The officer added that a medical report will determine whether or not the deceased was in an inebriated state before his death. There was a blunt injury to his head and it appears to have been caused by the impact of his fall. Police have questioned Paswan’s co-workers to ascertain the exact cause behind his death.
