The accused have been identified as Raghuvir, Arun and Rampal. Police said that the trio is a driver by profession.
According to a senior police official, on Friday, constable Pradeep was on patrolling duty along with head constable Akash.
“When at about 9 PM, they reached near the Rahman building in the area, the constable noticed that many persons were standing there without any reason. The constable Pradeep asked these men reason for standing there while Head Constable Akash was some distance from him,” said the senior police official.
“On this, the accused opposed and abused the constable and all manhandled him. Seeing Pradeep being manhandled, the head constable Akash rushed to the spot and they both apprehended Raghuvir, Arun and Rampal while one person ran away from the spot,” he said.
“The uniform of police personnel was torn by the accused. The constable Pradeep was medically examined and on his statement a case under section 186/353/332/34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered and the accused were placed under arrest,” the senior police official added.
