‘Act in 15 days, else we gherao Raj Niwas’
Delhi Congress on Friday demanded cancellation of three discoms as they are looting the people of Delhi. The Congress leader also accused that Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) which had earlier issued notices for imposing penalty on discoms is now cancelled. Congress leaders, led by Delhi Congress president Arvinder Singh lovely, submitted the 25-point chargesheet against BJP and AAP to lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, alleging that both the parties were responsible for the present plight of the people of Delhi. The delegation which met the lG included ClP leader Haroon Yusuf, former Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan, MlA Jai Kishan, Congress leaders Dr Naresh Sharma and Kamalkant Sharma. Strangely, power distribution was privatised during the Sheila Dikshit-led Congress Government in the city. Now the same Congress is seeking the cancellation of discoms’ licences.
later addressing mediapersons, Delhi Congress spokesperson Mukesh Sharma alleged that the chargesheet was handed over to the lG. “We’ve asked the lG to ensure quick action within 15 days time; else we will gherao Raj Niwas.” The Congress delegation informed lG that if the power companies forced the consumers to increase the load capacity and if there was no reduction in the inflated power bills, then the residence of the lG would be gheraoed. Congress sought action against these power companies for their anti-people actions and demanded their licence be terminated.
Sharma alleged that DERC has reported to have withdrawn the notices of imposing penalty on three discoms. He demanded cancellation of licenses of three discoms and stated the lieutenant Governor should invite new players for Delhi power supply.
The Congress leader also alleged that the AAP was conducting a bogus survey drama so as to prevent the AAP MlAs from breaking away. “The AAP MlAs were in regular touch with the BJP, and Arvind Kejriwal was aware of it. It is because of Kejriwal’s secret deal with the power companies that the consumers are being browbeaten and getting inflated power bills. Kejriwal has carried out surveys projecting how many seats will be won by which party in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. I challenge him to declare the Assembly constituency names also. If he is not able to do so, a case for carrying fake surveys will be registered against him,” Sharma said.
