The Delhi Congress will conduct a survey in all 13 municipal wards where byelections to municipal wards are expected by May second week.
The questionnaire has been prepared by the Delhi Congress on the performance of Arvind Kejriwal Government.
“The AAP and the BJP had promised to eradicate unemployment. Has anyone from your family got a job through the Government, and if so, then give detailsIJ Have you got free Wi-Fi connectivityIJ Has the water and sewer bill come downIJ Is there any reduction in your power billIJ Has corruption come downIJ,” the questionnaires read.
Addressing a Press conference, Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken announced that the Delhi Congress will bring out separate manifestoes for each of these wards after taking the views of the local people after a 10-day door-to-door visits from March 20 to 30. “Our workers will go door-to-door to find out the problems of the people. We will not do any campaigning but ask just seven questions to the people”, he added. He said Congress workers will fan out to 683 polling boths and ex-MlAs, Municipal Councillors and former Ministers would be among those who would be deputed in 153 schools,” Maken said.
The Congress leader alleged that despite the order by the Delhi High Court, asking the AAP Government in Delhi to deposit the money required for holding byelections to the 13 vacant wards in the civic bodies within 30 days, the Delhi Government has not complied with the order. He said though the AAP has named its candidates for the byelections to the 13 MCD wards, it was perhaps waiting for someone to approach the Supreme Court and get a stay order, so that the elections could be stalled.
The Congress leader further said that if the money for holding the MCD byelections is not deposited with the Delhi Election Commission, as directed by the court, the DPCC may approach the court for contempt of court.
Maken said due to the absence of elected representatives in these 13 MCD wards, development works have come to a total halt. He said the Congress party was taking the byelection very seriously, and the Congress volunteers would make door-to-door visits in these unrepresented wards to expose the hollow promises made by the Aam Aadmi Party. He said people were upset with the AAP Govt for spending crores of rupees for advertisements, which was like the “India Shining” campaign by the BJP.
Maken said that his party strongly oppose the additional excise duty imposed on jewellers, and would fully back their fight against excise duty.
