The Delhi Congress on Tuesday launched its two-day Jan Sadhan Sabha, a drive to educate common man on the “ill-effects” of demonetisation, from Babarpur in North-East district.
Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken said at the launch, “Digital transactions take place at a cost. For instance, I have a receipt for Rs 1,000 for my purchase and another acknowledgement from the bank saying I have paid Rs 1,028.”
The Congress workers were also seen distributing a newspaper on “Note Pe Charcha” to enlighten people about the negative impact of the faulty implementation and scam behind demonetisation in all the 280 blocks. In charge of Delhi affairs’ and General Secretary P C Chacko was also present at Babarpur Jan Sadan programme.
Maken said, “While people are dying standing in queue for exchanging their old currency, officials are seizing large number of unaccounted money in new currency. How can this happenIJ We are going to educate common man about the scam.”
He added, “Economy is suffering and production in factories has gone down, making labourers jobless. Half the population in the country does not even have accessibility to banks and debit or credit cards. In spite of this, the Modi Government is making slogans to make India cashless”.
Delhi Congress leaders also organised a meeting against demonetisation at Sultanpur Majra constituency.
Addressing the meet, Jai Kishen, former MlA and Dalit leader of Delhi Congress, said “BJP and its allies are happy with demonetisation, but they do not care for 20-25 crore people, who are daily workers and have to sleep hungry if they do not work even a single day, 30-35 crore people, who do not have bank accounts and don’t even know anything about ATM and online banking facilities. Only big industrialists such as TATA, Ambanis, Birlas, Ramdev are being benefitted from this scheme.”
Prahlad Singh Sahni, former MlA of Chandni Chowk constituency said that inconvenience is being faced on daily-basis, yet Modi Government claims that people are happy.
The meeting was also addressed by district Kirari Congress president and former MlA Surender Kumar
He said that the time has come to teach BJP a lesson during coming Punjab, UP, Gujarat and Goa assembly polls along with MCDs elections.
