Cong will extend support to AAP to stop BJP this time too: Sheila

Published on:

Former Chief Minister of Delhi Sheila Dikshit has clarified that her statement vis-à-vis Congress supporting Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to prevent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from coming to power has been taken out of the contest by few news channels. She said that Congress had extended support to AAP in the Government formation after there was a hung Assembly as no other party was in a position to form a Government.

The AAP Government led by Kejriwal did not last long as he resigned on the 49th day of his Government. Dikshit said on Thursday that in the event of Delhi voters not giving a clear mandate this time round too, the Congress will definitely back AAP if there was a three cornered contest. She also clarified that it has been the stand of her party that they will support any political party that helps in preventing the saffron brigade from coming to power.

The AAP immediately rejected this saying it would not again join hands with the Congress. The Congress

also distanced itself from Dikshit’s statement, saying that the party would neither extend nor accept any support to the AAP.
