The National Student’s Union of India (NSUI) held a march to Parliament on Monday against the demonetisation move and its impact on the students across the country.

The Congress-backed student’s organisation also sent out a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating their demands to easing the process for students in colleges. NSUI president Amrita Dhawan, along with other activists, were detained by the Delhi Police and taken to Parliament Street police station.

“Students are mainly from poor families…everyone is hassled due to the demonetisation move but no one is talking about the difficulties faced by lakhs of students by it in this country. They are not able to pay the small loans taken for supporting their education neither the fees,” Dhawan told The Pioneer.
