The Delhi Congress on Sunday intensified the fogging drive in 14 districts of the national Capital, as part of its social responsibility programme. Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken too participated in the fogging drive at three places K-22, Jehangirpuri in the Badli Assembly constituency, Pocket III, Sector-A-6, Resettlement Colony in the Narela Assembly constituency and Jelebi Chowk, Sultanpuri, in the Sultanpuri Assembly constituency.
Maken said the Delhi Congress had to carry out the fogging drive as a responsible Opposition as both the Delhi Government and the three BJP-ruled MCDs had “totally failed” to check and control dengue. As a result, the death toll has been rising, and the number of people affected by the disease going up manifold.
He said had the Delhi Government sanctioned the funds earmarked to control dengue and malaria to the MCDs on time in May-June itself, the disease would not have attained epidemic proportions.
According to Maken, the Delhi Congress fogging drive was mainly targeting the areas where people from the economically weaker sections live, like JJ clusters, slum areas, unauthorised colonies, resettlement colonies and the villages of Delhi.
Former MlA from Sultanpuri Mazra, Jai Kishan who carried out fogging drive at Jalebi Chowk alleged that the Kejriwal Government has failed to tackle dengue and woke up only after death of two dozen people. “Both BJP and the Kejriwal Government was responsible for these deaths in Delhi,” said Jai Kishan.
