Cong spokesperson slams Delhi Govt for delay in Metro's Phase-III, IV

Delhi Congress chief spokesperson Sharmistha Mukherjee, on Tuesday accused the Delhi Government for delaying Phase-III and IV of Delhi Metro. The party also said that the AAP’s claim of division of Central and State taxes having been skewed due to the introduction of the Goods and Services tax (GST) regime is a hollow argument since effect of GST will be felt uniformly across all cities, and therefore there is no ground for Delhi to claim special treatment.

Sharmistha further said that the deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was a member of the GST Council; he never raised any concerns at the meetings of the Council, which completely exposes the baseless reasoning of the AAP Government in not paying its share of funding.

“The deadline of Phase III metro was September 2016 but later the government extended the deadline to April 2018. Whereas Phase IV metro line was about to start but due to delay in Phase III it further delayed,” she said. Senior party leader Chattar Singh and Puja Bahri were also present on the occasion

Meanwhile, former MlA and senior Congress leader Jai Kishan has also criticized the BJP and the AAP for creating mess in the Capital. He alleged that both the parties are playing with the sentiments of dalit and scheduled caste and done nothing for improving their livelihood.  “Neither the BJP nor the AAP have fulfilled their promises made during their electoral rallies,” he said.
