Cong seeks resignation of Somnath Bharti

Published on:

Delhi Congress president Anil Kumar has demanded resignation of AAP legislator Somnath Bharti after he was sentenced to two years imprisonment for “assaulting” the AIIMS security staff in a case registered in 2016.

Kumar said that after the AAP leader was awarded a two-year jail term in an assault case, the number of AAP MLAs with a criminal background has gone up. He said that the Arvind Government has been shielding Ministers and MLAs, who were accused of corruption, domestic violence, sexual harassment and assaults as they continue to remain as the AAP MLAs without any disciplinary being initiated against them.

The Congress president also demanded the Kejriwal Government to remove Somnath Bharti from the party.
