lashing out at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) run Delhi Government and Bharatiya Janata Party at the Centre, Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken with his party members on Monday staged a protest at the Civic Centre against the non-payment of wages to Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) employees and its sanitary workers.
Criticising the inability of Delhi Government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s regime, Maken accused both of having no concern for the MCD workers of the city.
He further added, “Both Governments have indulged in diversionary tactics to distract public attention from loopholes in development and pressing problems such as power and water shortages.”
Claiming that sanitation staff in MCD had not been paid salaries for past three months, he alleged that the Municipal Corporations of Delhi were mired in graft at “all levels.”
Maken blaming the BJP for severe ‘cash-crunch’, said, “Finance Minister Arun Jaitley reduced the allocation for MCD by Rs650 crore whereas the then Congress Government had allocated Rs981 crore in 2008-2009 and Rs1,409 crore in 2009-2010 to MCDs without seeking any credit.”
During protest Maken also highlighted problems of power cuts, water shortage and old age and widow pensions.
