Former Delhi Education Minister Prof Kiran Walia will contest from New Delhi Assembly seat against AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal. Delhi BJP has not announced its candidate from high-profile New Delhi seat. Speculations are doing the rounds that BJP may field former Delhi cop Kiran Bedi against Kejriwal. The Congress has announced its fourth list of six candidates for the remaining seat on Friday. Walia had contested the last Assembly polls from Malviya Nagar seat and lost. Insiders say that Prof Walia was not keen to contest from New Delhi seat against Kejriwal but agreed as the party leadership wanted her to contest from here. The party has chosen Dr Yoganand Shastri from her traditional Malviya Nagar seat this time.

The Congress has nominated Raj Kumar Maggo from Moti Nagar seat; Duli Chand lohia from Tilak Nagar; Vishan Swaroop Aggarwal from Sangam Vihar; Zakir Khan from Babarpur and Satanpal Dyma from Karawal Nagar seat. According to sources, Maggo is contesting first time Assembly election while Duli Chand lohia had earlier lost the Assembly polls. He is also former MCD councillor. Aggarwal is former MCD councillor and block president of Sangam Vihar. He is considered close to JP Aggarwal, former MP and Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC). Khan is MCD councillor and had contested assembly polls in 2013 from Babarpur and lost.
