Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Ajay Maken on Monday said that the Capital had witnessed unprecedented development work during the 15 years of Congress rule that resulted in making Delhi one of the most beautiful cities in the world. He further alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stalled development and just threw allegations at others instead of focusing on its work.
Ajay Maken while addressing party workers in Ward Number 59, Rohini, said “The Congress Party took effective measures to reduce pollution in Delhi by introducing CNG in the Delhi Transport Corporation’s (DTC) buses. Also massive networks of flyovers were built to reduce congestion on roads during our reigns.”
“The BJP has been ruling the corporation for ten consecutive years but failed to address the civic issues including strike by sanitation workers for releasing their wages. Making excuses and indulging in politics of blame game is not a solution and the AAP has done nothing on the development front except for making accusation against others. All development works carried out by the previous Congress have been stalled by the Government,” he added.
Earlier this month, Maken while suggesting measures to revamp the financially ailing Corporation said "Property tax collections in all the three municipal corporations are remained unchanged for long.
“Delhi could be self-reliant if there is no corruption and pilferage of resources like revenue from toll tax, property tax, advertisement charges. The road map on fiscal management and resource generation to make civic agencies financially self-reliant,” Maken alleged.
