Terming the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) decision to hike power tariff as anti-people, Delhi Congress president Arvinder Singh lovely on Thursday alleged that DERC took this decision under pressure from the BJP’s Central leadership, and its decision of taking back the fuel charge for three months, was a total betrayal on the people of Delhi.
lovely said that AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal had played a similar betrayal on the people of Delhi on power tariff with an eye on the Parliamentary elections by giving just three months’ subsidy. He demanded that the hiked power tariff should be withdrawn forthwith. In a statement, lovely said that DERC’s decision to hike the power tariff by over eight per cent had proved that the people of Delhi were now facing bad days. He accused that the DERC increased the power tariff at the direction of the BJP. He said the BJP leaders had talked of giving 30 per cent subsidy in the power bills before the Parliament and Delhi Assembly elections, and those announcements have proved to be total betrayal of the people of Delhi.
