Accusing the BJP and Aam Admi Party (AAP) of betraying the people's trust, the Congress on Wednesday said that it will stage a comeback in the National Capital with the support of the people. Addressing a day-long closed-door workshop to discuss threadbare the issues that it would raise during the upcoming Assembly elections, former Congress MP and AICC media in-charge Ajay Maken made a detailed presentation on the failures of the BJP Government at the Centre. He told his party workers to go to the people and explain how the BJP had cheated the people of this country by making false poll promises.

Maken said that Narendra Modi's promise that his Government would bring back the black money stashed abroad and disburse Rs15 lakh each to the poor people within 100 days has now been fully exposed. Modi's promise was to mislead the people and get their votes.Maken also advised party workers to take credit of flyovers, Metro, other achievements of 15 years Congress rule and expose the BJP on women security, power tariff and old age pension which have been stopped.

The four-hour-long workshop saw many senior leaders giving suggestions on how to expose the BJP and the AAP in the State elections. All those present were asked to send in their suggestions for the party's manifesto. Other key issues raised during the workshop were that the party should increase the 400-unit subsidy slab on electricity by another 200 units.

Delhi Congress president Arvinder Singh lovely said no AICC leader was invited for the workshop. Assuring that it will not make any promise in its election manifesto which cannot be fulfilled, lovely said that party would conduct “constructive campaigns”. “People are once again looking towards the Congress for a stable and sustainable Government. The party would not only put up a better show in the Assembly elections, but also stage a forceful return. The BJP and the AAP has betrayed the trust and faith of Delhiites,” he said.

In the meeting, party decided to launch a door-to-door campaign and raise issues concerning the people during poll campaigning. Party leader Haroon Yusuf also said, “Party will raise the issue of the rising cases of communal flare-ups after the BJP came to power at the Centre in the coming Delhi Assembly elections.”
