Cong, BJP slam AAP over RRTS fund delay

The BJP and the Congress on Tuesday criticised the AAP Government here following the Supreme Court remarks and claimed it was running only based on propaganda and there was no development work in its model.

Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said strict action by the apex court to seize the advertising budget of the Kejriwal government is a significant blow to the Delhi government.

Bidhuri said in July, after the reprimand from the Supreme Court, the Delhi government had assured that it would contribute to the construction of the rail transit transport system between Delhi and Meerut. The BJP leader said it is surprising that even after the assurance given in court, the Delhi government has not released funds of Rs. 565 crores for this project this year, he said.

“This is not only the contempt of court but also shows how the Delhi government is acting recklessly and against the rules. Therefore, the court had to decide that if funds were not released within a week, the advertising budget would be seized. On November 28, the Delhi government will have to explain in court what it has done in this direction, Bidhuri said.

Delhi Congress president Arvinder Singh Lovely said it was shocking that the Supreme Court had to scold the Delhi Government for non-payment of the state’s contribution of Rs 415 crore to the Rapid Rail project, and threatened to transfer Delhi’s advertisement funds to the project, if the Delhi Government did not fulfil its financial obligation to the Rapid Rail project.
