Putting a serious question mark on the Delhi Police's security arrangements, another incident of robbery in broad daylight was reported from Geeta Colony on Thursday.
Eight people posing as income tax and CBI officials robbed around Rs 1.5 crore from employees of a North Delhi-based businessman around 2.30 pm.
After receiving payment from their client in Geeta Colony area, the victims were heading towards Naya Bans in lahori Gate for delivering cash for their Najafgarh land.
On their way, they were waylaid by four cars. Police sources said around 7.15 pm, the victim made a call to the police control room (PCR) and informed them about the incident. "Two persons, Manoj and Nitish, along with their mediator's driver Sudhir were in their car," police sources added.
"As they reached Geeta Colony flyover, four cars intercepted them. The accused men posing as IT officials showed their official identification cards. They threatened the victims and asked them to come with them for some enquiry and they forcibly entered their car," the sources added.
Sources further said that after threatening them, the accused also slapped them and kept roaming for an hour in East district. "They crossed several police check posts and pickets in the area, but police failed to notice anything wrong. On reaching near the
Deputy Commissioner of Police's (East) office, they decamped after robbing three black bags containing Rs 1.5 crore from the victims," sources said.
After recording the statement of the victims, police officials of Kotwali Police station of North district are investigating the matter.
