After four years of a cat-mouse game, Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested Hitesh Gandhi, a conman and wanted criminal involved in a Mumbai murder case of 2009. He used to dupe people posing as a public relations manager of Bollywood stars and political parties, including the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and TMC. In 2009, he had taken Rs3 lakh from one Rohit on the pretext of providing him a job in the railways but Rohit Singh did not get any job. When he demanded his money back, Gandhi accompanied by film publicist Ramesh Kerur and journalist Jyoti Venkatesh had crushed Rohit and his cousin Abhimanyu. Rohit died on the spot while his cousin was injured. His accomplices Harish Bhandari, Ramesh Kerur and Jyoti Venkatesh were arrested by Mumbai Police but Hitesh Gandhi went underground and moved to Delhi. He has been wanted in this murder case since then, Yadav said.

Gandhi again changed his identity to GH Navneet, married a widow and started living with her. He has duped many people in Delhi by giving them false assurances of providing Government jobs by using forged documents.

He was earlier arrested in a case of cheating by the Nabi Karim police station and was currently on bail, the Additional CP, Crime added.

He would roam the Capital in a car bearing stickers of Rajya Sabha, Parliament of India and Government of Gujarat. “The Hyundai Santro car recovered from him had stickers of Rajya Sabha, Parliament of India and Government of Gujarat, which have also been seized. Identity cards of Bollywood news star (Chief Political Bureau) in the name of GH Navneet, visiting cards of being a Personal Assistant to Former Union Minister Dr Yogender Makwana, Rajya Sabha Secretariat, Secretary General Parliament and various other cards were recovered from him,” said Additional Commissioner of Police ( Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav. Hitesh Gandhi (44), the master conman was arrested from Pitampura area after his car was intercepted by the Crime Branch, he further added.

He worked as the public relations manager to many in the Mumbai film industry from 1993 to 2001. He further claimed to have worked from 2001 to 2007 with several political parties, including NCP, TMC and RJD.
