Commuters rush to DND toll plaza, surrender cards

A day after the Allahabad High Court scrapped the toll collection at DND, commuters rushed on Thursday to DND toll plaza to surrender their prepaid cards.

The DND authority said the DND management has legal procedures to refund their money.

Anwar Abbassi, the spokesperson of DND told The Pioneer that the vehicles owners are rushing to DND toll plaza to surrender their cards for refunds after the court order. "We received demands from eight to nine card users on Thursday. The DND management has returned their money to them. We have no problem with commuters if they want to surrender their cards," Abassi said.

"This is legal process and the commuters have all rights to surrender it any time. We took Rs 25 from DND users except the gold category card users as they pay Rs 1,000 to subscribe a card and they recharged it according to financial limits," he further said.

He said the admin charge for subscription is non refundable. Around 30 thousands card users are registered with DND Company. They could take refunds from the DND any time.

The DND Management issues three convenient options for payment of toll, namely gold, silver and cash. The gold membership entitles the user a non-stop passage through the plaza by means of an "On — Board Unit" installed on the windscreen of the car.
