Chaos and confusion on Wednesday reigned in petrol, diesel and CNG stations across the city after the Government's announcement to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, as people made a beeline carrying Rs 100 and Rs 500. Many stations put up temporary closure boards, citing "technical issues".
Many people, who actually lined up for fuel and not for short change, grumbled for having to return without managing to get their vehicles' tanks filled.
"It was a harrowing experience waiting in line for petrol, especially when I did not even have to change my Rs 500. I had Rs 100 notes yet I could not get petrol because it seemed entire Mayur Vihar thronged the pump," Manish Sain, a media professional, said.
