The investigations into the alleged fake degree case of former Delhi law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar deepened further on Thursday when a team of investigators conducted raids at three places in Delhi. The sleuths have found the role of an owner of a private coaching centre in providing him the fake degrees. Sources said that they have identified the coaching centre owner who was on the run since the day Tomar was arrested. Delhi Police team will also take Tomar to Bihar’s Munger and Bhagalpur district for further investigations.

Sources told The Pioneer that Delhi Police has launched a hunt to nab an owner of the coaching centre in the Capital. Three teams of police visited Rohini, Ashok Vihar and Karol Bagh areas in search of the suspected person who had reportedly helped Tomar in providing fake degrees of B.Sc and law from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, respectively.  “We are investigating the case and whatever is necessary will be done accordingly. The raids are on and more arrest soon in coming days,” said a police officer.

Meanwhile, Tomar is still in Uttar Pradesh’s Faizabad from where he will be taken to Bihar’s Munger and Bhagalpur districts on Friday. Tomar was confronted with the staff of Avadh University and Saket Degree College in Faizabad during the investigation on Wednesday and Thursday. “He did not look familiar with the areas and college premises as where claimed to have studied,” said the officer.

“When Tomar was taken to KS Saket College from where he claims to have done his B.Sc, the law Minister seemed clueless and showed no signs of having studied there or visited the campus,” officer added.

Several persons, including the staff members of the university and college, have also been questioned. The officer said that they will not leave any stone unturned to unravel the identity of those involved in providing fake degrees.

Tomar was arrested by South district police on Tuesday within hours of filing a forgery case against him at the Hauz Khas police station triggering anger by AAP workers who accused Delhi Police of acting on BJP-ruled Central Government’s behest.

The MlA from Tri Nagar Assembly constituency, Tomar was arrested following investigations into the complaint lodged by the Delhi Bar Council at Hauz Khas police station on May 11. Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi said the arrest had been carried in accordance of the provisions of law and prescribed norms for arresting a Minister.
