Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will hold formal meetings with the general public — ‘janta darbar’ — at his Kaushambi residence on Wednesday morning. Kejriwal, who was not holding any ministerial berth, will interact with people and then try to act as a bridge between Government and people at large. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will also be present during janta darbar. This will be first such meeting of Kejriwal after assuming the charge of Delhi Chief Minister.
According to sources, huge tent has been erected outside Kejriwal’s Kaushambi house. The main purpose of the janta darbar is to get feedback from aam aadmi (common man). The entry of common man has been banned at Players’ Building. This arrangement has been made for common man so that they can meet their Chief Minister or Deputy Chief Minister to raise their grievances.
Sources said Chief Minister and his Ministers will meet general public regularly (at least twice a week). The Ministers have also been directed to hold public meeting near their residence to resolve public grievances. “The public expectations are very high. It is a huge challenge for the Kejriwal Government to fulfil all promises made in the elections. Due to high expectations, people from all sections have started coming to his office or his home for their grievances,” said a close associate of Kejriwal.
Kejriwal’s first “janta darbar” during his 49-day regime had ended in chaos as officials were unprepared to handle the crowd of over 20,000 complainants that showed up at the Delhi Secretariat. Kejriwal was forced to leave the venue mid-way. This had led to a huge criticism but the next janta darbar could not be held after Kejriwal resigned as the Chief Minister.
