A two-and-a-half-year-old girl escaped unhurt after a bullet passed through, brushing her cheek in East Delhi’s GTB Enclave area on Tuesday evening.
A senior police officer said, “Khanak, the minor girl, was heading home with her father after visiting a nearby temple on the occasion of Janmashtami when she started crying. Initially, her father thought that a stone must have hit her. There was a minor abrasion on her cheeks also. When the father daughter reached home, they removed her dress and found a bullet shell. Following which, they rushed the minor girl to the GTB hospital where she was treated and later discharged.”
Nupur Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) said, “We have registered a case under IPC Sections 337 and Arms Act at the GTB Enclave police station. Investigation is underway.” Police added that they are trying to identify the person who opened fire.
