A Class XI student was allegedly gangraped by five men in East Delhi’s Madhu Vihar area on Wednesday evening. Police claimed that three of the accused were known to her — out of whom two were juvenile — and one of the accused, Anil Handla, has been apprehended.
According to police, the incident took place on Wednesday evening when the girl had gone to meet her friends in a nearby DDA park. While she was playing with her friends, two other people joined in. The victim was then taken by the five accused men to the railway area in Chandra Vihar; she tried to run away but one of the accused pointed a knife to her neck. She was then dragged to a secluded place where they took turns to rape her and later dumped her near her house and fled. She reached home and narrated the ordeal to her parents who in turn informed police. A medical examination of the girl confirmed rape. A case under Sections of rape and Prevention Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered at Madhu Vihar police station. “All the accused have been identified. The other two men are in their early 30s and teams have been formed to nab them,” said a police official.
