Civic bodies slam Kejriwal's dissolution call

Published on:

The war of words between the Delhi Government and three municipal corporations over the disbursement of funds escalated as municipal corporation employees embark on three-day agitation.

Reacting strongly to the remark of dissolving the corporations, BJP leaders said that Kejriwal’s party is taking U-Turn from its resolve for Swaraj.

Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay and leaders of the three municipal corporation Houses Yogender Chandolia, Ashish Sood and Ram Narayan Dubey said that the Delhi Government is talking about irregularities in civic bodies whereas the CAG audits their accounts every year and no irregularity has been found.

“Evil deeds cannot be concealed and the way in which the Delhi Government has kept the municipal corporations under financial strain and tried to mislead the people of Delhi and the employees, we are of the view that the real purpose of the Delhi Government is to dissolve the municipal corporations. Today this evil intention was exposed when the Dy Chief Minister of Delhi trying to defame the corporations on the basis of falsehood spoke about recommending the dissolution of municipal corporations. Such comments can only be made by an anarchic and egotist Government,” said the Delhi BJP president

Upadhyay added that the Delhi Government’s stand against regularising the temporary staff of municipal corporations are those staff who are engaged in sanitation work whereas the Kejriwal Government has spent lakhs on the pay & allowances on party volunteers and co-terminus staff. He said that the Delhi Government had promised to regularise the staff whom they want to retrench today.

Reacting strongly to the Delhi Government’s statement on the dissolution of MCD, North MCD Mayor Ravinder Gupta said, “People of Delhi are reeling under Kejriwal Government. He has lost his mind.”
