Two incidents of suicide were reported in the Capital on Thursday. In the first incident, a 34-year-old man died after he jumped on the tracks at Uttam Nagar West Metro Station in the afternoon, which caused a brief delay in Metro services. “No suicide note (was) recovered from him,” a police officer said.
The train was headed towards Rajiv Chowk on the Blue line. The deceased, identified as Desh Raj, was a resident of Uttam Nagar and worked at a sweet shop. According to a Metro official, there was a 10-minute delay in train services.
In another incident —reported from Outer Delhi’s Bawana area — a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable committed suicide at his residence on Thursday morning.
Identified as Satish Kumar, the deceased hails from Sonepat and was staying at CISF quarters in Sector 4. He was deployed at Shastri Park.
According to police, a PCR call was received at 9.30 am. The police immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital where he died in an hour. Preliminary investigation revealed that he had a troubled marriage.
His wife, along with their six-year-old son, had abandoned him just a day before the incident.“He had called up his brother-in-law before consuming insecticide and informed him that he was taking the extreme step due to his troubled married life,” said a police official.
