The protest by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal against Delhi Police created bedlam in lutyens’ zone, predominantly around several Bhavans which house offices of the Central Government and Ministries.
Since four Metro stations in the neighbourhood where Kejriwal was protesting were closed, office goers had to trudge to their destination.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari too faced the brunt due to disruption of traffic in the region. He was nearly heckled by a volunteer of the Aam Aadmi Party. Tewari was headed from his office in Shastri Bhavan to Shram Shakti Bhavan, a distance of about a kilometre, when his car was stopped midway by AAP loyalists.
He had to leave his car and walk to Shram Shakti Bhavan which houses the labour Ministry. Tewari was to meet labour Minister Oscar Fernandes in Shram Shakti Bhawan. Meanwhile, people wearing AAP topis were noticed badgering those opposed to the protest saying the naysayers were cohorts of either the BJP or the Congress.
To add to the miseries of the daily commuter, several disparate outfits, at odds with the Delhi Government, too crammed the protest venue. “We are here with our demands but AAP workers want to throw us out,” rued Rajkishore, a provisional teacher.
