Manav Sthali School presented a cheque amounting to Rs 3,12,519 to resident Commissioner Puneet Kumar (Kerala Government) at Kerala House earlier this month. The amount has been raised by the school administration to help the flood-affected people of Kerala and it will go to the Chief Minister Distress Relief Fund.
Mamta V Bhatnagar, Director and Principal of the school said the contribution was made after the State faced its worst floods in almost hundred years that caused havoc and affected lives of residents.
Bhatnagar said the aim is also to inculcate a sense of social responsibility in the students and create empathy in them for the downtrodden sections of society.
"We understand that this contribution is just a drop in the ocean but in the present circumstance every drop counts.
“It was much needed keeping in view the large-scale loss of lives and properties in the devastating floods which not only destroyed the economy of the State but also forced residents to spend nights in open after losing their houses," she said.
