The biggest festival of colours is going to be a unique one next week as the people of the national Capital can throw the colours at their loved ones in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a host of other politicians of the country.

Guns with name of the politicians including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Cricketer MS Dhoni, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi are the most talked about in the market this festive season.

While the preparations are in full swing, new variety of water guns, made to sprinkle coloured water for celebrations have been introduced in market.

Special water guns to attract boys made on themes like the Spiderman, Doremon, Chhota Bheem, Ben Ten, Batman and Avengers are all over the market while a special series to appeal girls is also seen everywhere. The water guns for girls are based on the theme of famous Barbie Doll, Disney princesses, Kitty and several others.

The centre of attraction is taken by the new launched water guns which look like big miniature of cigarettes, packet of chips, magic balloons which are with the feature of auto filling. “Bag pack guns are being demanded the most as they can carry six to seven litres of water easily. The uncanny item which is seen this year is the magic ice colour which turns into snow ice after exposure to water,” a shopkeeper at Shakti Nagar, Subhash Kumar told The Pioneer.

The waters guns range  from Rs 30 to Rs 500. Colours with neon shades are also attracting  the shoppers.

“People are asking for non toxic colours which are skin friendly. Flavored colours are also available in the market including green apple, strawberry, juicy orange and lemon. Many colours in chandan based colour are being sold targeting the senior citizens.”

However, the sales are lesser than the previous festive season this year. The shopkeepers are blaming demonetisation for this cut in the sales of colours. When asked from the shopkeeper Varun Bawa whose family is into this business since decades, he said the sales are 40 percent less this year as compared to the previous years.

“No Chinese colours are being sold as the demand for them has decreased over the years. People just ask for eco friendly and skin friendly things and especially colours which are herbal. This year we are also selling air candles which are placed inside bright colour papers which fly once the candle is lighten… the sales have been cut this year mostly due to the demonetisation,” Bawa added.

If somebody wants to look different in the crowd they can pick the hats with vibgyor coloured hair fixed in it. These hats are just meant for holi festival and can completely change the look of a person when paired with a spectacle water gun. Grenade colour crackers are the latest launch of the

season.
