Air quality in Delhi will deteriorate further as Center run SAFAR has forecast it 'Very Poor' for October 23.
"AQI forecasted to deteriorate slowly but in the higher end of poor category for tomorrow. Further deterioration to very poor is expected any time thereafter as soon as winds becomes calm whose probability is high from 23rd Oct onwards," SAFAR forecast.
With rising incidents of stubble fire in neighboring states of the Capital, all concern agencies - NGT, CPCB, DPCC and EPCA along with MCDs asked to keep a close eye on burning of plastic waste or leaves which contribute in pollution.
While overall Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded 242 micro gram per cubic, SAFAR has said overall air quality of Delhi is in the poor category. The leading factor keeping Delhi AQI in check is faster surface winds as part of Westerly Disturbances making dispersion faster owing to high ventilation factor.
"A gradual increase in the stubble burning activity in Haryana, Panjab, and nearby border regions noticed as evident in synergistic multi-satellite product of SAFAR," "Though the circulation pattern (boundary layer wind direction is northwesterly) is supportive for efficient biomass plume transport to the Delhi region, the high wind speed experiencing Delhi is helping in very less accumulation of pollutants," SAFAR mentioned in its bulletin.
