A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel on Thursday detected an unattended bag containing over Rs7 lakh at Uttam Nagar metro station, which was later restored to its owner.
Officials said the incident happened at about 10.30 am at the Uttam Nagar (West) station when CISF security personnel noticed an unattended bag at the X-ray baggage scanner at the station.
After conducting anti-sabotage checks, a senior official said the securitymen recovered from the bag a cash amount of Rs7,62,622, a car key and two debit cards from the bag and it was kept in safe custody.
The CISF and Metro authorities got a phone number from the bag and a person identified as R Maini later came to claim the bag saying he had forgotten it. Maini was later returned the bag and cash by Metro authorities after checking his bonafide details, a senior official said.
