Body of a young woman, chopped into pieces, was recovered from a drain at Ruchi Vihar area of Outer Delhi's Mianwali Nagar on Friday afternoon. Police said that efforts to identify the deceased and trace the accused who had dumped it there, are being made.
A senior police officer said, “It was a passerby who spotted the woman's leg floating in the water and alerted the police. A police team then arrived on the spot, pulled out the body which was wrapped in a plastic cover. The body was cut into many pieces.”
The officer said that a case of murder under section 302 has been registered. “The incident is being probed. It seems someone has killed the woman elsewhere and then dumped her body here. Efforts to identify her are being made,” he said.
Police teams are checking CCTV footages from the area in order to trace the accused who dumped the body in the drain.
