The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) has sought a detailed report from the Delhi Police  into the death of a six-year-old boy, whose body was found floating in a water tank at Ryan International School. Sources said the DCPCR has written to DCP (South) Prem Nath, who is heading the ongoing probe over the death of Devansh Kakora on January 30.

“The DCPCR has asked the Delhi Police to submit the detailed report into the Ryan school incident to it. Thereafter, the commission will proceed accordingly,” they said. On Monday, the Arvind Kejriwal Government had recommended a CBI investigation into the death following demand by the child’s parents and findings of a magisterial probe which pointed to “suspicious conduct” of school authorities.

According to the Government, the decision for a CBI probe was taken based on findings of the magisterial enquiry and demand by the parents of the deceased. The boy’s father Ramhet Meena had on Saturday alleged that Devansh was sexually assaulted before being done to death and that there were injury marks on his private parts. He had even alleged that the Principal of the school “threatened” the family to keep quiet over the issue.
