Four armed assailants allegedly thrashed a shopkeeper in south-east Delhi's Okhla Mandi, and robbed Rs 70,000 from him, after he put up a stall and started selling onions at Government price on Thursday.
Vijay Ahuja had set up the stall in collaboration with Delhi Government and agricultural produce market committee (APMC). He and his brother, Rakesh, along with two partners — Rajesh Bhatia and Ram Prakash Sharma — were sitting at the shop when attacked. "They were counting the day’s collection when four armed assailants reached the spot and threatened Ahuja to shut down the stall. But, when he objected, they started beating him with baseball bats," a senior police officer said.
Passersby made a call to the police control room and in the meantime, assailants fled from the spot. The victims were later taken to a nearby hospital. "Doctors said Ahuja sustained grievous injuries, while others were discharged after being administered first aid. A case has been registered with the Amar Colony Police Station and search is on for the accused persons,” a police officer said.
