The residents of Ghaziabad protested against the “disinvestment” of Central Electronics Limited (CEL), a public sector undertaking (PSU) of Central Government situated in Sahibabad industrial area.

BJP Councilor Rajendra Tyagi, president of executive officers association of CEL Somnath Bhattacharya and RWA Federation president Colonel Tejandra Pal Singh Tyagi said the Central Government has proposed to disinvest and sell the profit making CEL to private bidders on October 21.

“The tender process is continuing and has been floated in the newspapers. Shockingly the eligibility criteria have been relaxed to quite low for this profit making PSU owned by the Central Government,” they said.

Established in 1974 the CEL in 43 years of its inception, is manufacturing solar photovoltaic, Railway electronic, security and surveillance system, microwave defence electronics used in radars in defence forces.

“The criteria of applicants has been relaxed for an individual of company or partners having worth of rupees 50 crore only and it seems a conspiracy to sell the profit making company which have exported solar plants to 35 countries at a throw away price,” said Tyagi.
