Schools affliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will no longer be defined by the brand. In order to foment quality assurance in schools, the Board has introduced the School Quality Assessment and Accreditation (SQAA).
The SQAA is meant to usher a paradigm shift for schools under the purview of scholastic processes, co-scholastic processes, infrastructure, human resources and leadership. “like the NAAC is for assessing colleges, the CBSE too will assess the functioning of schools affliated to it. It’s not about building infrastructure but utilising it for students,” said Vineet Joshi, Chairman, CBSE.
This system will be put in place from the 2013-2014 academic session and all schools will have to get themselves registered within three years of its introduction. The schools evaluated under SQAA will have the validity for a period of five years. “It will be an audit report which the school has to present. They need to fill out the form after which a group of three persons would inspect the school and rate it on the basis of seven domains. It is important for schools to score above 75,” Joshi underlined.
The report of each school will have to be uploaded on the school website for guardians to discern the quality of education imparted by the school. The Board is readying a committee in which 12 private agencies and the Government would be involved in this project.
