A day after taking charge in the Geetanjali Garg murder case, senior CBI officials, headed by DIG Vinita Thakur, on Thursday visited Parade Ground, where her bullet-riddled body was found, in Gurgaon Police lines.
The agency recreated the sequence of crime with forensic experts and Gurgaon Police special investigation team, marking out where the spent bullets had been found.
SIT chief Ashok Bakshi, Assistant Commissioner of Gurgaon Police, briefed Thakur.Police registered a case of murder and dowry harassment against Chief Judicial Magistrate Ravneet Garg, Geetanjali's husband, though it was later handed over to the CBI.
OP Aggarwal, Geetanjali's father, said, "After two years of marriage, we were pressurised to give them a Skoda Superb worth Rs 20 lakh. Three months before the murder, Ravneet had bought a bungalow in Chandigarh and demanded Rs 50 lakh from us for it."
Aggarwal alleged that Geetanjali was murdered by her husband and in-laws at a washroom at the CJM's official residence before her body was dumped in the Parade Ground. He pointed out that police have not found blood on the ground.
The police did not seal the residence before probing the case. "Geetanjali gave births to two daughters and her in-laws were unhappy with the lack of a male child," added Aggarwal.
